About the accommodation: This cosy cottage is on a working dairy farm in a beautiful valley overlooking the village of Vestre Gausdal. Built in the 1850s, it’s a one-bedroom house full of rustic charm – there’s no running water here but the bathroom in the main house is just next door.
Location: Gausdal is in Oppland county, one of the only two landlocked counties in Norway. It’s a 30 minute drive from Lillehammer, with regular buses from the train station.
Things to do: Get involved on the farm! Whether it’s milking cows, feeding sheep or baking bread, the hosts are happy to let you experience life on a dairy farm. There are also 3 large ski resorts nearby and cross-country trails to tackle.
Why is it on the wishlist? The perfect escape from daily stresses.
